By Appointment or Virtual Viewing, For Discerning Private Collectors
Ovico Gallery

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to Ovico Gallery.

Ovico Gallery (“Ovico Gallery,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a private art gallery presenting original artwork and paintings by a Nigerian artist, hosting private viewings and exhibitions, and offering limited-edition giclée prints. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website at https://www.ovicogallery.com (the “Website”), why we collect it, what we do with it, who else may see it, and what choices you have.

We have written this policy in plain English on purpose. Art should be the complicated part of your visit, not the paperwork. If anything here is unclear, please email us at info@ovicogalleryl.com and we will explain it in ordinary language.

By using the Website, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Website.

A short summary, in case you read nothing else:

  • We do not sell your personal information. We never have and we do not plan to.
  • You can browse most of the Website without telling us who you are.
  • We collect your name and email only when you choose to give them to us, usually through an inquiry or a private viewing request.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and move through the Website.
  • We do not process payments on the Website. Artwork acquisitions are handled personally, outside the site.
  • You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the information we hold about you.

2. Who We Are and How to Reach Us

Ovico Gallery is the party responsible for the personal information described in this policy. In privacy law this role is sometimes called the “data controller.”

3. The Information We Collect

We collect information in three ways: you give it to us, we collect it automatically as you browse, and occasionally we receive it from other services we use. Here is each one in detail.

3.1 Information you give us directly

You are always in control of this category. If you do not fill in a form or send us a message, we do not receive it.

When you submit a Private Inquiry form, we ask for:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • A subject line
  • Your message

When you request a private viewing, we may also collect:

  • Your preferred dates and times
  • Your phone number, if you choose to provide one
  • Your city, region, or country, if relevant to arranging the visit
  • Any notes you add about the works or exhibitions you are interested in
  • The number of guests attending with you

When you contact us about an artwork or a limited giclée, we may collect:

  • The specific pieces, editions, or exhibitions you are asking about
  • Your budget range or collecting interests, but only if you volunteer them
  • Shipping or delivery details, if an acquisition moves forward
  • Any correspondence you send us by email, phone, or messaging

When you email or call us directly, we receive whatever you choose to include in that message, along with your email address or phone number.

When you attend an exhibition or private viewing, we may keep a simple record of your attendance, such as your name and the date, so we know who has seen which works and can follow up appropriately.

3.2 Information collected automatically when you browse

Like nearly every website, ours records some technical information automatically. Most of this is generated by your own browser and device and is used to make the site work and to understand its audience.

This includes:

  • Your IP address, which is a numerical label assigned to your internet connection. It gives a rough idea of geographic location, usually at the city or region level, not a street address.
  • Your browser type and version, for example Safari 18 or Chrome 141.
  • Your device type and operating system, for example iPhone running iOS, or a Windows desktop.
  • Your screen size and resolution.
  • The pages you view on our Website and the order in which you view them.
  • How long you spend on each page.
  • The website, search engine, or link that brought you to us, known as the referring URL.
  • The date and time of your visit.
  • General language and country settings from your browser.

We use this information in aggregate, meaning we look at patterns across many visitors rather than tracking you as a named individual. We do not attempt to work out your real-world identity from this technical data.

3.3 Information from third-party services

We may receive limited information from the services we use to run the Website and communicate with you. For example, Google Analytics provides us with summarized reports about our audience, and our email provider tells us whether a message we sent was delivered successfully.

3.4 Information we do not collect

To be equally clear about what we do not do:

  • We do not collect payment card numbers on this Website. There is no shopping cart or checkout. Acquiring an artwork or a limited giclée happens through direct conversation with us, and any payment is arranged separately and personally.
  • We do not collect government identification numbers, such as Social Security numbers.
  • We do not knowingly collect sensitive categories of information such as health data, religious beliefs, political opinions, racial or ethnic origin, biometric data, or precise GPS location.
  • We do not buy personal information from data brokers or list vendors.
  • We do not require you to create an account or password to browse the Website.

If you send us sensitive information voluntarily in a message, we will handle it with care, but we ask that you avoid including anything sensitive that we do not need.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

4.1 What a cookie actually is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. It is not a program, it cannot read files on your computer, and it cannot damage your device. Its usual job is to remember something between page loads, such as your preferences or the fact that this is your second visit rather than your first.

4.2 The cookies we use

Essential cookies. These make the Website function. They handle things like security, load balancing, and remembering choices you made on a form so your input is not lost. The Website cannot work properly without them, so they cannot be switched off from within the site.

Analytics cookies. These are set by Google Analytics and help us count visitors and understand how the Website is used. They tell us, for example, that a particular exhibition page was viewed 400 times last month, or that most visitors arrive from a search engine. They do not tell us your name.

Preference cookies. If applicable, these remember settings such as your chosen language or region so you do not have to reselect them.

We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies. We do not run ad networks on this Website, and we do not follow you around the internet with ads for our artwork.

4.3 How to control cookies

You have several options:

  • Browser settings. Every major browser lets you block cookies, delete existing ones, or be warned before a cookie is set. Look under Settings, then Privacy or Security. Blocking all cookies may cause parts of the Website to behave unexpectedly.
  • Google Analytics opt-out. Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics from collecting your data on any website. It is available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Private or incognito browsing. This clears cookies at the end of your session.
  • Cookie banner. If a cookie consent banner is shown to you, your choices there control which non-essential cookies are set, and you can change them at any time.

4.4 Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. There is still no agreed industry standard for how websites should respond to it, so our Website does not currently change its behavior based on that signal. We will update this section if that changes. Meanwhile, the controls listed above give you direct and reliable ways to limit tracking.

5. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect only for purposes a reasonable visitor would expect. Specifically:

To respond to you.

  • To answer your inquiries about artwork, exhibitions, and limited giclée editions
  • To schedule, confirm, reschedule, or follow up on private viewings
  • To provide details such as provenance, dimensions, medium, edition size, framing, and availability
  • To continue a conversation you started

To run the gallery.

  • To arrange and confirm exhibitions and viewing appointments
  • To coordinate the sale, delivery, shipping, or installation of an artwork or print you have acquired
  • To maintain records of acquisitions, editions, and provenance, which is a normal and important part of the art trade
  • To keep our own business, accounting, and tax records

To operate and improve the Website.

  • To display pages correctly on your device
  • To diagnose technical problems and fix broken pages or links
  • To understand which artists, works, and exhibitions draw the most interest
  • To improve navigation, page speed, and overall presentation
  • To measure whether our Website is reaching the audience we hope to reach

To keep things secure.

  • To detect and prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • To protect the Website, our records, and our visitors

To communicate, when you have asked us to.

  • To send occasional updates about new works, exhibitions, or available editions, but only to people who have asked to hear from us or who have an existing relationship with the gallery
  • To send administrative messages, such as a confirmation of your viewing appointment

To meet our legal obligations.

  • To comply with applicable laws, tax and record-keeping requirements, and lawful requests from authorities
  • To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims if that ever becomes necessary

We do not use your information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. There is no algorithm deciding whether you may view or acquire a work. Those are human decisions made by people at the gallery.

6. Our Legal Bases for Using Your Information

If you are in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area, or another region with similar laws, we are required to tell you the legal ground we rely on for each use. Here is the plain version.

  • Your consent. For optional things such as non-essential analytics cookies and marketing emails. You may withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect anything we did lawfully beforehand.
  • Performing a contract, or taking steps at your request before entering one. For arranging a private viewing, answering an acquisition inquiry, or delivering a work you have purchased.
  • Our legitimate interests. For running a secure and functional website, understanding our audience in aggregate, preventing fraud and abuse, and keeping ordinary business records. We only rely on this where our interest does not override your rights and freedoms.
  • Legal obligation. For tax, accounting, and other record-keeping the law requires of us.

7. Analytics: How We Use Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors find and use our Website.

What it does

Google Analytics places cookies on your device and collects the technical and behavioral information described in Section 3.2. It then gives us summarized reports, such as:

  • How many people visited the Website in a given period
  • Which pages, exhibitions, or works are viewed most often
  • Whether visitors arrived from a search engine, a social platform, an email, or by typing our address directly
  • What broad geographic regions our audience comes from
  • Which devices and browsers people use
  • How long people stay and where they tend to leave

What we see, and what we do not

We see trends and totals. We do not see your name, your email address, or your home address through Google Analytics, and we do not try to connect analytics data to the personal information you submit through a form.

Data sharing with Google

Google processes this data on our behalf and under its own privacy terms. Google may also use the data in accordance with its own policies. You can read how Google handles data collected from sites using its services at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and Google’s general privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Google Analytics collects IP addresses. Current versions of Google Analytics do not store full IP addresses and use them primarily to derive approximate location before discarding them.

How to opt out

  • Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
  • Decline analytics cookies in any cookie banner shown on our Website
  • Block cookies in your browser settings
  • Use a browser or extension that blocks analytics scripts

Opting out of analytics will not prevent you from browsing the Website or contacting us.

Everything will continue to work normally.

8. When We Share Information, and With Whom

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Full stop.

We share information only in the limited circumstances below, and only the minimum needed.

8.1 Service providers who help us operate

These are companies we hire to perform functions on our behalf. They may only use the information to provide their service to us, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

  • Website hosting and infrastructure providers, which store the Website and its files and keep server logs
  • Google Analytics, for the audience measurement described above
  • Email and communication providers, which deliver and store the messages we exchange with you
  • Form and scheduling tools, which receive and route your inquiry or viewing request
  • Shipping, crating, and fine art logistics companies, if you acquire a work and it needs to be delivered. They receive only the name, address, and contact details required for the delivery.
  • Payment processors, banks, or financial institutions, if an acquisition proceeds. Because payments are arranged personally and not on the Website, this happens outside our site and under the payment provider’s own privacy terms.
  • Professional advisers, such as accountants, insurers, or attorneys, where reasonably necessary

8.2 The artist and consignors

Where relevant to an acquisition, commission, or exhibition, we may share limited details with the artist or a consigning owner. This is normal practice in the art world. For example, an artist may be told who acquired a work, which matters for provenance and for future exhibition loans. We share only what the situation genuinely requires.

8.3 Legal and safety reasons

We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to:

  • Comply with a law, regulation, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process
  • Respond to a lawful request from a government or law enforcement authority
  • Enforce our terms or protect our legal rights
  • Protect the safety, rights, or property of Ovico Gallery, our visitors, the artist, or the public
  • Investigate suspected fraud, security incidents, or illegal activity

8.4 Business transfers

If Ovico Gallery is ever sold, merged, restructured, or transfers its assets, information about our visitors and clients may be part of that transfer. We would ensure the receiving party is bound to honor this policy, and we would notify you of any material change in how your information is handled.

8.5 With your permission

Beyond the situations above, we will share your information with someone else only if you ask us to or clearly agree to it. For example, if you ask us to coordinate directly with your interior designer, art adviser, or shipping agent.

9. Photography and Recording at Exhibitions and Private Viewings

Because we host exhibitions and private viewings in person, we want to be transparent about images.

  • We sometimes photograph or film openings, exhibitions, and installations to document the gallery’s programming and to share it on our Website or social channels.
  • Where practical, we will let attendees know in advance if an event is being photographed.
  • If you appear in an image and would prefer not to, tell us at the event or email us afterwards at info@ovicogalleryl.com and we will remove it from our channels or crop you out.
  • We will not use an identifiable image of you in paid advertising without asking you first.
  • Our premises may use security cameras for the protection of the artwork and of visitors. Any such footage is retained for a short period and is accessed only for security purposes.

10. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep personal information only as long as we have a reason to, then we delete it or make it anonymous. As a general guide:

Type of information

How long we typically keep it

General inquiries with no follow-up

Up to 2 years from your last contact

Ongoing collector or client correspondence

For the duration of the relationship, plus up to 7 years

Private viewing and appointment records

Up to 2 years after the appointment

Acquisition, sale, and provenance records

Indefinitely, because provenance is a permanent and essential part of an artwork’s history

Accounting, tax, and invoice records

As long as tax and business law requires, generally 7 years

Website analytics data

In line with Google Analytics retention settings, typically 14 months or less

Server and security logs

Usually a few weeks to a few months

Marketing contact details

Until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you

Provenance records deserve a word of explanation. In the art world, knowing who owned a work and when is part of the work’s permanent identity and affects its authenticity and value. For that reason we retain ownership records long term, even after a relationship ends. If you have concerns about this, please contact us and we will discuss what we can reasonably limit.

11. How We Protect Your Information

We take practical, sensible steps to keep your information safe.

  • Encryption in transit. The Website uses HTTPS, so information you send through it is encrypted while it travels between your browser and our servers. You can confirm this by the padlock icon in your browser’s address bar.
  • Limited access. Only people at the gallery who genuinely need your information in order to help you can access it.
  • Reputable providers. We use established hosting, email, and analytics providers that maintain their own security programs.
  • No payment data on site. Because we do not process card payments on the Website, there is no stored card data here to be stolen.
  • Software maintenance. We keep the Website’s software and components reasonably up to date.
  • Data minimization. We ask for as little information as possible, which is the simplest security measure of all.
  • Secure disposal. When information reaches the end of its retention period, we delete or securely destroy it.

An honest caveat. No website, company, or method of transmitting information over the internet is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overpromising. What we can promise is that we take the responsibility seriously and act quickly if something goes wrong.

If a breach occurs. If we become aware of a security incident that affects your personal information, we will investigate promptly, take steps to contain it, and notify you and any relevant authorities where the law requires or where we judge that you should know.

Your part. Please avoid sending highly sensitive information, such as full payment card numbers or identification documents, in an ordinary email. If we need something sensitive from you, we will arrange a secure way to send it.

12. Your Rights and Choices

You have real, exercisable rights over your information. Depending on where you live, some of these are legal entitlements and others are simply things we are happy to do for you. We aim to honor all of them for everyone, wherever you are.

12.1 Rights available to everyone

  • The right to know. Ask us what personal information we hold about you and what we do with it.
  • The right to access. Request a copy of your information.
  • The right to correction. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate or incomplete.
  • The right to deletion. Ask us to delete your information. We will comply unless we are legally required to keep it, or where it forms part of a permanent provenance or transaction record.
  • The right to opt out of marketing. Tell us to stop sending you updates, and we will. Every marketing email also includes an unsubscribe link.
  • The right to opt out of analytics. Use the methods in Sections 4.3 and 7.
  • The right to withdraw consent. Where we relied on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
  • The right to complain. Raise a concern with us directly, or with your local privacy regulator.

12.2 Additional rights if you are in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland

  • The right to portability. Receive the information you gave us in a common, machine-readable format, or have it sent to another provider where technically feasible.
  • The right to restrict processing. Ask us to pause our use of your information while a dispute or accuracy question is resolved.
  • The right to object. Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including any profiling.
  • The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk. In the EEA it is your national data protection authority.

12.3 Additional rights if you are a California resident

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, you have the right to:

  • Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclose to
  • Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, so there is nothing here to opt out of.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not collect sensitive personal information as the CCPA defines it.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We will never give you a worse price, a worse service, or a colder welcome because you asked us a privacy question.

You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. We may ask for proof of that authorization.

12.4 If you live elsewhere in the United States

Several other states, including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and others, have enacted privacy laws granting similar rights of access, correction, deletion, and opt-out. If your state gives you such rights, we will honor them. In practice, we extend the rights listed in Section 12.1 to every visitor regardless of location, which keeps things simple for everyone.

12.5 How to exercise your rights

Email us at info@ovicogalleryl.com with the subject line “Privacy Request,” and tell us:

  1. What you would like us to do, for example access, correct, delete, or stop emailing
  2. The email address or name you used when you contacted us, so we can find your records

We will confirm receipt promptly and respond within 30 days, or 45 days for CCPA requests, which we may extend once where the law allows and where we tell you why. There is no charge for this, unless a request is clearly excessive or repetitive.

We may need to verify your identity before acting, particularly for access and deletion requests. This protects you: we do not want to hand your information to someone impersonating you. Verification is usually as simple as confirming the request from the same email address we already hold.

13. Third-Party Websites and Links

Our Website may contain links to other websites, such as an artist’s own site, a press article about an exhibition, an art fair, a museum, an auction record, or a social media profile.

Once you click a link and leave our Website, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. Each destination site has its own privacy practices, which may be very different from ours. We do not control those sites, we do not review their policies on your behalf, and we are not responsible for their content or for how they treat your information.

We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit before giving it personal information.

The same applies to social media platforms. If we maintain a presence on a platform and you interact with us there, the platform collects information about you under its own terms, and we see only what the platform shows us.

14. Children’s Privacy

Our Website is intended for adults, particularly collectors, curators, press, and members of the public interested in fine art.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not direct the Website’s content or any marketing toward children.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us at info@ovicogalleryl.com. We will delete it promptly.

Children are, of course, welcome to visit an exhibition with an accompanying adult. This section concerns the collection of information online, not the enjoyment of art in person.

15. International Visitors and Data Transfers

Ovico Gallery is based in the United States, and our Website and records are hosted on servers in the United States.

Because we present work by a Nigerian artist and welcome collectors worldwide, many of our visitors are outside the United States. If you contact us from another country, your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your home country.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses used by our service providers.

By using the Website or contacting us, you understand that your information will be handled as described in this policy, in the United States.

16. Marketing Communications

If you ask to hear from us, or if you become a client of the gallery, we may occasionally send you news about new works, upcoming exhibitions, private viewing opportunities, or newly released limited giclée editions.

  • We send these sparingly. We are a gallery, not a newsletter operation.
  • Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • You can also simply reply and ask us to stop, or email info@ovicogalleryl.com.
  • We will act on your request promptly.
  • Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop necessary administrative messages, such as confirming a viewing appointment you booked or completing an acquisition already underway.

We do not share your email address with other galleries, dealers, or marketing companies.

17. Accuracy of Your Information

Please help us keep your information accurate. If your email address, phone number, shipping address, or collecting interests change, let us know and we will update our records. You may ask at any time to see what we hold and to correct anything wrong.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a feature to the Website, begin using a new tool, or need to reflect a change in the law.

When we do:

  • We will post the updated policy on this page.
  • We will change the “Last updated” date at the top.
  • If the change is significant and affects how we use your personal information, we will make a reasonable effort to notify you directly, such as by email if we have your address, or with a notice on the Website.

We encourage you to review this page occasionally. Continuing to use the Website after an update means you accept the revised policy.

We will never apply a material change retroactively to information already collected without your consent.

19. Questions, Requests, or Complaints

We would genuinely rather hear from you than have you wonder. If you have a question about this policy, want to exercise a right, or want to raise a concern, contact us:

For privacy matters, email is usually fastest. Please use the subject line “Privacy Request” or “Privacy Question” so it reaches the right person quickly.

We aim to acknowledge every privacy message within a few business days and to resolve it within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact your local data protection authority. In the United Kingdom, that is the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk. In the EEA, it is your national supervisory authority. In California, it is the California Privacy Protection Agency at https://cppa.ca.gov.

20. Your Consent

By using https://www.ovicogallery.com, you confirm that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and agree to the collection and use of information as described.

If you do not agree with any part of it, please stop using the Website and contact us so we can address your concern.

Thank you for your interest in Ovico Gallery. We are grateful for the trust you place in us when you get in touch, and we treat your information the way we treat the work on our walls: carefully, and with respect.
