By Appointment or Virtual Viewing, For Discerning Private Collectors
Ovico Gallery, exclusive African Contemporary Art

Nigerian art is a powerful means of expression, stories that resonate with the soul.

For discerning private collectors.
The Collector’s Desire

You Are Not Simply Filling a Wall. You Are Building a Collection.

The right artwork does more than complete a room. It reflects your taste, your story, your values, and the legacy you are building. For collectors who understand rare objects, fine design, and cultural value, original art offers the opportunity to own beauty, meaning, and history in a single object.
The Problem

The Highest Value in Art Is Not Always Obvious.

Many collectors are shown expensive artwork without the context needed to buy with confidence: which artist is worth collecting, which works are truly significant, whether a piece has long-term importance, how to acquire without feeling pressured, how to build a collection with coherence and meaning.
The Guide

A Private Gallery Experience for Serious Collectors.

Ovico Gallery is not here to sell you decoration. We help private collectors see what others may miss: the story, the cultural value of the work, the emotional gravity of the canvas, and the opportunity to acquire significant original pieces before broader recognition increases demand.

Private Discovery

We learn about your taste, your spaces, your collection goals, and the kind of legacy you want your art to represent.
Step 02

Curated Presentation

We privately present selected works that align with your aesthetic, emotional, and collection objectives.
Step 03

Acquire With Confidence

What to Avoid

Do Not Let Your Collection Become Expensive Objects Without a Story.

There is a real risk in buying decorative art with no deeper significance, in missing the artist before prices increase, in acquiring disconnected pieces, in letting trends define your taste, in filling walls instead of building a collection. The cure is patience, context, and a relationship with a gallery that knows the work it places, and the people who place it.

This is something you discovered, understood, and chose before others fully saw it.

These paintings consist of multiple expressive images rendered with lines, shapes, forms and colors. The images are in elongated semi abstract style of Plastillino, one of the schools of art expounded by Chike Onuorah. They have a contemporary appeal emanating from traditional indigenous artistic expressions typical of the Igbo culture of west Africa.
This is a full spectacle of expressionistic rendition in colour. It is full of activities with multiple images. There is a lot of movement both of animal and human subjects, alongside objects used in telling the story. The paintings are rendered in strong patches of multiple colours.
These are facial expressions in patches of colour which appear more clearly with distance. The faces are embedded into the painting completely or partially covered by the circumstances in the foreground. In the impact on the subject lies the message as expressed by the facial demeanour. These interactions between the faces and the circumstances depicted in the environment unfold the never-ending story.
These are a collection of images built into the spaces between columns. These columns connect the upper and lower backgrounds of the paintings. The backgrounds have intricate images with traditional linear expressions, shapes and motifs. These are detailed renditions while those in the spaces between are more liberally executed.
Rendered in portrait style, these captivating paintings are subtle and calm renditions of African young and older women in a peaceful mien. The softness of the paintings showcase both in the picture and the style evoking a delicate peace reminiscent of self-assured confidence. The women evoke the sophisticated yet simple aura of grace. They are the personification of elegance, beauty and excellence.
These works explore the space between abstraction and recognizable form through expressive lines, layered colour, texture, shapes and spontaneous gestures. Some compositions reveal figures, faces, natural forms and other familiar imagery, while others move more freely into abstraction, allowing images and meanings to emerge gradually through the viewer’s own interpretation.
